Life After Facebook

Hello my friends,

I wanted to share this update for those who have not yet had the opportunity to follow me on my YouTube page, LinkedIn, or via my email list.

So, how’s my life been now that I’m more than one month removed from Facebook (Twitter and Instagram too)? In a word, FREAKIN’ GREAT! I must say that at first, it was kind of a withdrawal process. After all, like most of us, as soon as I would wake up each morning, the first thing I would do is look at Facebook to see who may have responded to a post of mine, and to see what the general theme was for the day. Not doing that was weird at first, but as I made my way through the first week, it became much easier. The only difficult part was telling family and friends, who sent me a text to see if I saw a specific post, that I’m no longer on Facebook.

But honestly, It’s been a much needed and welcomed breath of fresh air! Even though I did not get involved in the arguments and debates that permeate the site, I was still subject to the negativity that they represent. And as a person who’s still trying to evolve spiritually, I knew that getting away from that was something that I had to do. It’s the same reason why I stopped watching the news. Because THERE’S NOTHING GOOD ON IT!

Let me please say that I don’t condemn anyone who is on Facebook. It does serve many aspects of our world today in a positive nature. If it’s something you like, and feel comfortable with, go nuts. It just doesn’t work for me.

SO, WHAT HAVE I BEEN DOING?

I’m glad you asked! As it pertains to social media and networking, the only platforms that I have maintained are my YouTube page, where you can find my music videos, Oneness performances, and podcasts and vlogs as ‘That Oneness Guy’. I have also decided to keep my LinkedIn page because that always seemed to focus on businesses and not so much the opinions and debates that we see on Facebook. And I have also kept my ReverbNation site, which is pretty much just for my music.

HERE ARE THOSE LINKS:

LINKEDIN: https://www.linkedin.com/in/danny-rongo-ba15b93/

REVERBNATION: https://www.reverbnation.com/dannyrongo

I would greatly appreciate if you could SUBSCRIBE to my YouTube page. That is the site that will help me grow my following as a spiritual author and singer-songwriter. I have been adding ‘That Oneness Guy’ VLOGS to that site on a weekly basis. Here is the link for my most recent vlog: https://youtu.be/fyjiTp7zfAE

I would also greatly appreciate it if you would be on my email distribution list. I typically only send about three emails in any given month, and again, it helps me to grow my presence. And for those who send me an email, with your mailing address, I will send you this FREE GIFT!

And finally, I want to say that my new book: “The WAYZ of Oneness” How to Navigate Through Life, is for all intents and purposes, done. What I have to decide now, is if I keep it as one book, or make it two! I’ve been writing this book throughout the shutdown from the pandemic, and before I knew it, I surpassed 100,000 words! So, I have to discuss the matter with my publisher Balboa Press and see which route I should take. Either way, I will keep you informed.

I thank you as always for your support as I continue to share my music and message of Oneness.

In Oneness,

Danny

CONSERVE ENERGY

As we are smack in the midst of our first heat wave of 2010 (please don’t think that this is our ‘only’ one) let’s review the basics. First, please make sure to check on your elders and pets and make sure they are safe. Next, we are instructed to take extra measures on conserving energy so we don’t put extra tax on these grids and find ourselves in the dark, literally.  This all makes perfect sense, but why can’t we take basic measures to conserve throughout the year?  If we could make it a habit of thinking along these lines on a daily basis, these moments of crisis wouldn’t seem so bothersome.

In my attempts to use my song ‘Where To Now?’ to help raise awareness towards our global warming crisis, I’ve joined forces with a website called “STOP GLOBAL WARMING” www.stopglobalwarming.org . Please visit the website and take a moment to look at all the ways WE ALL can conserve energy on A DAILY BASIS! This site also has plenty of ways for you to share this info via websites etc with buttons, banners et al.

My point is simple. Like everything else in life, if we get into habits of taking specific measures and efforts towards what we desire, we won’t feel the pressure of ‘act now or else’!

PLEASE CONSERVE ENERGY

9 years = no towers: Ground ‘Zero’ (literally)

(I couldn’t copy the photos I’m referring to, but go to my Newsvine page to see the two photos of Shanghai. One from 1990 and one from 2010)

Take a look at these pictures, and tell me what you see? I see the development of an entire city (not just two buildings) that took only twenty years. Is Shanghai that much farther advanced technologically? Maybe in some aspects, but considering that only 100 years ago the horse and buggy was still a means of transportation for us, probably not.

How can Shanghai create an entire city in 20 years, and it’s been 9 years and we STILL don’t have our Twin Towers? (or the ‘Freedom Tower’, the name doesn’t matter)

It amazes me AND breaks my heart at the same time. Just the thought that in other parts of the world an entire city can be constructed where we cannot replace a landmark and a pinnacle of our freedom. I wrote a song on September 11, 2008 and my words still mean a lot to me: “I was there that day, when the earth stood still. It took my breath away, and it always will”. Did we forget what they did to us? Lets recap; They hijacked jets filled with fuel and a few hundred passengers and flew them directly into the World Trade Center towers (as well as other targets) killing, no MURDERING thousands of innocent people!

Our replacement structure should have been built IMMEDIATELY!

I reside in NJ but work in New York City along with millions of other people who are reminded on a DAILY BASIS that our once proud beacon of lower Manhattan is not here. Oh yeah, I know that construction has started and I believe we’re up to 15 floors or so….WHOA! look out now! If we compare that to Shanghai’s development we get laughed at. 9 years, 15 floors. Is that the response that we wanted to show the world? Yeah, sure we took other measures as a response, but what about the actual structures that they took away, the fabric of our daily lives, THE TOWERS! What about them?

How come we didn’t show the world our TRUE RESILIENCE!

I’m writing about this today because a friend shared these pictures with me and it broke my heart all over again. To see such amazing advancements that other cities have made, and we here in the United States first, then directly here in New York (concrete jungle where dreams are made of) ‘The Greatest City In The World’ are forced to play second fiddle. I’m not looking to raise a debate over this because honestly, our time to show our stuff has came and went. Our 9 year anniversary is just a few months away and we still don’t have anything to show for it. My only concern at this time and place is, WHY? Why did we let politics and bureaucracy get in the way of our true American spirit? Why did we not seize the moment to show the world who we really are? I believe that if we erected towers right away, that would have had as much effect as capturing Bin Laden

(oh wait, we didn’t do that either..)

We Didn’t Start The Fire (Take 2)

Although the recent oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico was an accident, I can’t help myself but wonder “Where the hell are we heading?”. Is it me or does this recent catastrophe just seem like it’s kicking the snot out of us while we’re already as down as down can be. Erupting volcanoes, major earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes, Michael Buble (OK, that didn’t have to be in there but you get the drift). If you don’t put any weight into the prophecies that say we’re right on track for doomsday, you have to admit one thing…

These natural disasters are occurring more frequently than in the past!

I can’t help but think of the old Billy Joel song ‘We Didn’t Start The Fire’ and wonder how it would apply to these natural disasters? Maybe something like this….feel free to sing along:

“Haiti, Chile earthquakes, all the lives they did take

Wild fires, mudslides, run away you can’t hide.

Hurricanes, tsunami, children screaming “Mommy!”

Twisters, typhoons, homes that now are in ruins.

We Didn’t Start The Fire, but it’s just our luck and we’re kinda stuck

We Didn’t Start The Fire, yes our world’s still turning, but right now it’s burning”

I don’t know Billy Joel, but I think he would appreciate my spin on his 1989 hit song. After all his lyrics were referring to events that kind of just fell in our laps per se, right? Isn’t this exactly what we’re experiencing right now? If you believe that these natural occurrences are the results of our actions, or just our bad luck to be residing on this sphere for the time being, either way ‘we’re kinda stuck’!

With that said, and then when you throw in the accidents like the recent oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, do we really need any additional man-made tragedies? By man-made I simply mean what we’re doing to each other. Is the hatred that this U.S/Pakistan man had so great for us that he took it upon himself to park a truck full of explosives in Times Square with intentions to kill (his fellow) Americans? Thank God he was not successful in his attempt, but my point is ‘WHY?’ Why is there still hatred in a world that is for one reason or another preparing itself to totally obliterate its inhabitants?

I personally do not believe that we can ‘Save The Planet’. Our Earth has been around for billions of years and can totally sustain herself (yes, she is Mother Earth). We might just be the speck of infinity that tells her to refresh herself and cast us off like a bad dream. I do not know if we’re facing an impending doom, but I do recognize the frequency that these natural disasters now occur and it’s pretty scary. Scary enough to make me realize that we as co-inhabitants of this planet need to take our own measures to sustain ourselves as a race (the Human Race).

AND IT SURE DOESN’T INCLUDE KILLING EACH OTHER!

These natural disasters will unfortunately take care of that.
