They were just children in our lives
So full of love and life and dreams.
Within their families warm embrace
A chance to reach for shining stars
Why were they chosen? How could this be?
They were brighter angels that sailed across the skies
They were brighter angels with Heaven in their eyes
And needed somewhere
We cannot fathom such tragedy
Our faith destroyed, beyond repair
Can we go on when all is lost?
With heavy hearts that cry in vain
We could not save them, we did not know
(That) they were brighter angels that sailed across the skies
They were brighter angels with Heaven in their eyes
They were brighter angels that sailed before our eyes
They were brighter angels with loving lullabies
And left us too soon
We could not save them, we did not know
Why were they chosen? How could this be?
(That) they were brighter angels that sailed across the skies
They were brighter angels with Heaven in their eyes
They were brighter angels that sailed before our eyes
They were brighter angels with loving lullabies
And needed somewhere

Regarding the Newtown CT tragedy that took the lives of so many children, my only thought was that they were ‘brighter angels’ and needed somewhere.
